L.O.V.E. Let One Voice Emerge
November 2016

Testimonial – October 2016

Jason,
I am writing you to let you know how much our Counseling Enriched class appreciates Elevate Oakland.  As a mental health provider I see that your program brings so much more to the community than music (even though this is huge), it also brings heart and hope!  When I asked our students what they like about your program this is what they shared;
“it’s cool, the artists talk about their lifestyle, what they have been through, but life goes on”
“like the history and how they came up on the music”
” I like learning what they (the artists) went through and how they got where they are”
“you learn the artists experiences and the information they share lets young adults know what they have been through”
” like learning what they have been through and how they got where they are”

Thank you for letting us have the privilege to connect with all of your artists, it is truly an honor.

As you can see from our students responses they appreciate your program and have been touched by the artists histories, experiences and drive to overcome their personal obstacles.  This in turn lets our students see that they can do the same!

We appreciate this great program that you have brought to McClymonds  High School!
Sincerely,

Eden Marchant

Elevate Oakland’s Community Summit

The full-house event – which featured appearances by student musicians and spoken word performers from across the Oakland Unified School District, was hosted by 51Oakland and The Elevate Hope Foundation, and marked the official beginning of their new joint venture – “ELEVATE OAKLAND”.

Drawing on the combined resources of two established non-profit organizations with similar missions, Elevate Oakland promises to bring even more music and arts opportunities to the youth of Oakland. The tremendous positivity & goodwill generated by the event foretells of great things to come!
